Happy Saint Paddy’s Day!! If you have been around the barn during March in the last 4 years, you know that we LOVE this holiday! Bagpipes, drinks, good cheer, luck…it all creates a day that never disappoints! We celebrate at the barn in our favorite way; a sweaty workout with some of the best Parkites we know followed by bagpipers, Irish coffee and green beers (Park City Brewing Company’s Last Pitch)! This fitness party always leaves us feeling SEAU lucky!
I consider myself a lucky person. I don’t mean luck in the sense of being “blessed.” I am extremely lucky that I was born to two parents that loved me and could provide me with endless opportunities. I am so lucky to have an amazing husband and two healthy kids. But when I talk about luck I mean the feeling that life puts me in the right place at the right time for amazing things to happen. One of my favorite pod casts is called How I Built This. At the end of each interview, Guy Raz asks whomever he is interviewing the question; how much of your success is because of skill and how much is because of luck. It is always one of my favorite parts of the interview. Listening to people that have created these amazing businesses explain the balance between luck and skill is fascinating! These people are super “lucky” because they created their luck! Luck is created with hard work, an open mind and the wiliness to see a lucky opportunity and TAKE IT!!
Entrepreneurs are often viewed as lucky. People sum up their success as being in the right place at the right time. This view always seems to come at the end, after the hard work is done. To get to the point where someone would view them as lucky they have spent years of their life working day and night on an idea that they believe in. An idea that they fight for even when there are twists, turns and naysayers. They don’t know everything, but they do everything they can to learn. They have lucky breaks, but the breaks come because they can see them and act. Their luck is created with resilience and hard work!!
I met Whit 6 years ago and I consider this friendship one of my luckiest moments. We had known each other for a few months, but around March 15th she invited me to meet her on Main Street to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. I was 100% IN and the day was fantastic! It was the start to our friendship and MANY more Saint Paddy’s Days together! One year later she asked me, a truly green instructor, to come work with her at The Beau Collective. I had no clue why she would ask me and I did not feel ready, but I said yes anyway! I felt so LUCKY to be asked and I was determined to work hard and prove that I should be there. This lucky break has led me to a life and community that I love.
Keep your eyes and heart open to see the lucky opportunity when they come. Work hard everyday because we know THE HARDER YOU WORK, THE LUCKIER YOU BECOME!
